Eva Gotiti Wet Coffee Processing Station, launched in 2022 in Gotiti Kebele of Gedeb Wereda in Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, is a modern washed-coffee facility spanning around two hectares that annually processes 500–600 tons of cherry from approximately 868 smallholder farmers. Eva Gotiti operates and adheres to rigorous water management, traceability, and environmental standards—reducing water use, separating pulp, and tracking every lot from farm to export. The station also reinforces social and environmental responsibility by providing seedlings, financial support to farmers, and premium payments tied to quality delivery—fostering both sustainability and strong farmer relationships.
The South Region’s Gedeo Zone, specifically Gedeb Wereda, is situated at the southern end of the renowned Yirgacheffe growing region. With elevations ranging from 1,900 to over 2,200 meters above sea level, fertile red-brown soils, and a consistently cool, humid climate, the area provides ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality Arabica coffee. Farms are typically very small, managed by families who intercrop coffee with banana, maize, and other subsistence crops, maintaining biodiversity and soil health.
