Who we are.
Founded by four partners from Africa, united by a shared belief in opportunity, impact, and the power of coffee to tell our continent’s story. What began as a friendship and bond in the halls of boarding school, has evolved into a shared mission: to redefine how African coffee is experienced, valued, and celebrated on the world stage. Grounded in our heritage and driven by ambition, we built Byfour to bridge Africa’s rich coffee culture with a global audience. Creating a brand that embodies both legacy and possibility.
Nairobi
At the heart of East Africa’s innovation and culture, Nairobi represents Byfours’ spirit of modernity and ambition. Kenya is celebrated for producing some of the world’s most vibrant coffees, much like the city itself. From the high-altitude slopes of Mount Kenya to the bustling streets of the capital, Nairobi connects tradition with the future of specialty coffee. For us, it is a symbol of clarity, energy, and the pursuit of excellence in every cup.
Kampala
Kampala, a city built on rolling green hills beside the waters of Lake Victoria, is at the core of Uganda’s rich coffee heritage. Known for its deep-bodied and robust flavors, Ugandan coffee reflects the resilience and warmth of its people. As one of Africa’s fastest-growing coffee origins, Kampala anchors Byfour in a legacy of craftsmanship while pointing to a bold, expanding future. It is here that we find balance and tradition, subtly infused with possibility.
Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa is more than a capital. It is the gateway to the birthplace of coffee itself. Ethiopia’s highlands gave the world its very first coffee beans, and today, Ethiopian coffees remain among the most sought after for their floral complexity and nuanced flavor profiles. For Byfour, Addis Ababa represents heritage, authenticity, and artistry. Every sip that traces back to Ethiopia is not just coffee, but a return to origin. A timeless connection to where it all began.
